ANOTHER 2021 WOOD DESIGN AWARD WINNER!
The Andy Quattlebaum Outdoor Education Center at Clemson University has won a 2021 Wood Design Award! This is one of two projects that I photographed which have won Wood Design Awards in 2021.
Cooper Carry designed this beautiful lakefront complex for Clemson University students to provide them with numerous opportunities to experience the adventure of outdoor activities. This dramatic wood structure, blended with large expanses of glass, is the architect's way of making a strong connection to the natural environment. The center features social space, rooms for activities such as yoga, rowing and aerobics, as well as traditional classrooms. Big overhangs give students a beautiful setting for studying and relaxing outside.
One of the really special things about this facility is that students can check out camping, biking and boating gear. It just might be time for us all to head back to college with this kind of extraordinary facility on campus!
